Gush Katif Sylvia
This was my first video that I made to place on the Internet (summer 2005 in the Gaza Strip), and was subsequently watched by over 100,000 net viewers across a variety of websites, including my main reporting site (www.israelreporter.com). In what was meant to only test a new video camera, one of the most poignant and moving interviews resulted. Meet Sylvia Mandelbaum, one of the eldest residents of Gush Katif, on one of the most tragic days of her long life. This was shot in Sylvia's beloved Gush Katif house (in Neve Dekalim) only days before the forceful evictions of 21 communities in Gaza. She is sitting with me in her sun room as her grandchildren (army soldiers) pack up her house and belongings and move her out of her home for 14 years. This is intense and heart-wrenching and now a rare piece of dark Jewish history! View All Comments Comments (0)
