American Filmmaker: 'Not All Jews are White' -
An Jewish-American filmmaker has set out to explain to the world that one does not have to be white to be Jewish. Lacey Schwartz, a black Jewess born to white parents, states in the trailer for her new film, "Outside the Box" that there are close to 400,000 black Jews today in the US. Schwartz began her own odyssey of self-discovery at the age of 18 when she had to answer questions of ethnicity on a college application form. Her film is expected to debut within a year. The young filmmaker will be arriving in Israel next week for a conference sponsored by the Vancouver-based Center for Leadership Initiatives, funded by the Schusterman Family Foundation.
